CLASS CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION

The material in this training program in kinesiology has been prepared as an online class component of the Blue Heron Academy core curriculum.  We think that you will find that this training program is both interesting and engaging, and that it will greatly assist you in your study of kinesiology.

The Online kinesiology program has been developed to enhance and to improve your knowledge of human movement and physiology, and to assist in your preparation for the national board exams of the American Medical Massage Association, and the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

The instructional material in this program has been broken down into three separate areas - the Reading Assignments, Course Assignments, and the Tests.  In addition there is an online class chat room where you can ask questions and get help with your assignments.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The student will study the history, philosophy, principles, objectives, and current concepts of Kinesiology . This course is designed for students requiring an introductory course in kinesiology and will require coursework that is directly related to and required of a student training in introductory kinesiology.  This course is an introduction to Physical Education, Sport, and Fitness.  It provides introduction and insight into Kinesiology and body movement.  This course will teach new and traditional approaches to the past that combined with an interpretive approach, will challenge, stimulate, and engage students for the future.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Material: Will be presented primarily in the form of CD lecture, readings, and assignments from the text.

Module Study Questions - subject tests (study questions and activities) are incorporated within the course materials and are based upon the reading assignments.

Fitness Profile - Students will be responsible for completing a personal fitness assessment and evaluating their personal fitness profile.

Professional Observation - Students will be responsible for observing a physical education professional and submitting a report.

Professional Philosophy of Physical Education - Students will be responsible for writing their own professional philosophy related to physical education, fitness and sport .

Professional Resume - Students will be responsible for developing a professional resume.

Career Plan - Students will develop a personal and professional career plan based on their educational objectives and goals.

Grading scale:

A. 90 to 100 percent
B. 80 to 89 percent
C. 70 to 79 percent
D. 60 to 69 percent
E. Below 59 percent is a failing grade

ONLINE CLASSROOM MORE HELP FOR STUDENTS

The online class room has been created and designed so that you can get the additional class and course assistance that you need. You will need to know your password, and when the online class room is in session. Your online class room password will be provided to you in week four of your course by your classroom teacher. FINAL EXAM

When you have completed the entire course and all of its assignments you will be ready to take the course Final Exam. Contact your course instructor and the instructor will confirm that you have completed all requirements and that you may take the Final Exam.

NON COMPUTER STUDENTS

If you are completing this program from a printout of the program disc you may mail your work and test answers to your instructor.
